The life and times of Edward de Bono, a Maltese physician, and author, are pretty wild. At one point, he was worth a lot of money, so much so that he could afford to purchase a handful of islands in some of the most beautiful locations in the world.

De Bono owned Green Island in Australia, Tessera in Italy, Reklusia in the Bahamas, and, later, West Skeam in Ireland. The Maltese millionaire ended up having to sell his islands in order to fund the end of his marriage. Though he had a profitable real estate portfolio up until his death, those islands were the first to go when it came to his settlement with his ex-wife, Josephine.
