Dietrich Mateschitz, the owner of Red Bull, an energy drink company, bought Laucala from its previous owner, a Forbes heir, for $9.72 million in 2003. Now, the island is worth at least $14.22 million, possibly more, considering the resort haven it has become. It has twenty-five bars on the island, each of which has its own theme.
