Food Prices Are Surging But Who's Really Getting Rich?

"Why does food keep getting more expensive when modern agriculture has never been more efficient?

In this video, we look at where your grocery money actually goes - because not much of it actually goes to the farmer. Processing, transport, packaging, tariffs, war-driven energy shocks, and good old fashioned corporate greed all play a role in this story.

But there’s more to it than that… so watch now to find out exactly what’s going on with our food supply and why it translates to an ever-rising grocery bill."

Despite modern agriculture becoming significantly more efficient, food prices have surged due to a complex interplay of systemic and acute factors that occur after the harvest. The video explains that farmers receive a tiny fraction of the consumer's dollar, with the majority of costs being absorbed by processing, transport, retail, and services. Key drivers for these high prices include long-term monetary policy which has weakened the purchasing power of the currency, and the concentration of power among a few dominant corporate firms that protect their profit margins during supply shocks. Furthermore, recent geopolitical instability, such as the Iran war, has exacerbated the situation by driving up the costs of essential inputs like fuel and fertiliser. While consumers are beginning to resist through backlash against major brands, the combination of sticky prices, high tariffs, and a complex supply chain suggests that food costs may remain elevated for the foreseeable future.
