Drug dealer donates BTC to Czech Ministry of Justice

Posted by M H on June 01, 2025 - 1:29pm Edited 6/1 at 1:29pm

Like from an Italian movie

Problem is this is not a movie. It is real affair that came to light on Friday 29th May 2025.

The Czech Republic has had its worst affair since the 1990s, which was very wild time because the property was redistributed after the Velvet Revolution.

Resigned Minister of Justice Pavel Blažek could not be the only one involved in the strange bitcoin deal, says former Minister

Taťána Malá.

  Pavel Blažek has headache ?

What happened and what we know now ?

Twenty-five-year-old programmer Tomáš Jiřikovský founded an illegal drug and medicine marketplace in 2013. He not only sold thousands of drug shipments, but also, according to a 2017 court verdict, stole a lot of bitcoins from the participants in the transactions. (He trades in bitcoins because few people buy heroin from their accounts in a normal bank.

The police confiscate his computer, where the stolen bitcoins are. Police can't access them, they doesn't have the password, but of course neither can the dealer or the thief. (Of course, no one will claim damages for the stolen cryptocurrency, because that would be admitting to drug trafficking).

The convicted Jiřikovský is released early in 2021 and now real miracles begin to happen. His lawyer will arrange for the police to return the computer with the bitcoins to him - their price has since risen to a staggering three billion of CZK (approx. 140 000 000 USD) - and in return he will donate a third to the Ministry of Justice.

The dealer and thief will get the blocked two billion, the Ministry of Justice one billion, in the words of the participants “everyone is happy”. The office gets a billion for free and the dealer can enjoy two billion in peace: how could anyone throw anything at him when the Ministry of Justice itself accepted the money?

An old saying says: you can't write satire in the Czech Republic because reality is many times crazier.

Even the Prime Minister Petr Fiala sees nothing suspicious about the whole case and praises the whole story: “I believe that the money raised will help Czech citizens.”

The smart and educated Minister of Justice Pavel Blažek and the smart and educated Prime Minister Petr Fiala have apparently completely abandoned common sense....

Evidently the leading Czech politicians have forgoten :

Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes!    I fear the Danaans and those bearing gifts!

Money has darkened their brains. May also because some journalists discovered there were much more BTC in  the wallet - they mention 12 billions in CZK.

I hope this monstrous affair will open eyes to those who still believe our government coalition is acceptable and shall win in the election beginning of October. Many citizens already had a very critical view of our government before this affair.

Thanks for reading

M H You are right, Simon. Like a plot from wild movie. Discovering new facts goes on and there will be still "hot times" in Czechia in the next days.

Simon Keighley This "Bitcoin donation" scandal in the Czech Republic sounds like a plot from a wild movie - it raises serious questions about the integrity of its leading politicians.
