Choose real food.⁣

Posted by Bobby Brown on September 22, 2020 - 9:46pm

Why is it so hard for obese people to lose weight despite the health consequences such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and even cancer even though they have an intense desire to lose weight? It is not because they WANT to be overweight. It is because certain types of food are addictive.⁣
⁣
Food made with sugar and bad fats can be addictive. Especially when combined in secret ways the food industry will not share or make public. We are biologically wired to crave these foods and eat as much of them as possible.⁣
⁣
We have to cook our way out of our addiction to bad food. Shopping, cooking, and eating are political acts with far-reaching benefits to our health, the earth, the economy, and beyond.⁣
⁣
Michael Pollan, in his book Cooked, says, “The decline of everyday home cooking doesn’t only damage the health of our bodies and our land but also our families, our communities and our sense of how our eating connects us to the world. ⁣
