Cruising: Extend Your Stay

Posted by Bobby Brown on January 07, 2020 - 5:46am

- Celebrity Cruises is giving cruisers sailing out of Port Everglades the option to enjoy their ship a little longer on disembarkation day via a new program called "Extend Your Stay." The option is good for anyone with a late flight home, or who has driven to the port.

"Our guests want to make the most of their vacation and this added flexibility gives them more options to enjoy Celebrity a little longer," said Michael McCarthy, vice president of onboard revenue at Celebrity Cruises.

With Extend Your Stay, cruisers can stay in their cabin until 9 a.m., but must then get off the ship with all their belongings (per U.S. federal regulations). Extend Your Stay cruisers have the option to put their bags out the night before, just like all cruisers, but the bags will be specially tagged. After collecting their bags in the baggage hall, Extend Your Stay guests will need to clear Customs, but then will be guided by Celebrity staff to drop off their luggage in a new holding area.

After storing their bags, they can return to the ship, with access to all public lounges and the pool deck. Guests must be off by the time of the muster drill.

The cost of the Extend Your Stay program starts at $79 for adults and $39 for kids, and even includes drinks (via the Classic Beverage package) for the time they're on the ship on disembarkation day. Credit cards will be accepted for any retail purchases, as well as for drinks that are not included in the Classic Beverage package.

The Extend Your Stay package can be bought onboard and is only available on cruises that sail roundtrip from Port Everglades, as well as a handful of European ports.
