Quantum theory fundamentally revolutionized the understanding of matter in the twenties of the last century. A third of global economic output, from semiconductors in computer chips to lasers in CD players and magnetic resonance imaging, is based on the technical consequences of quantum physics. But only recently has science recognized its fundamental importance for an understanding of life and, in particular, of consciousness. If one applies quantum theory consistently to the human being as a whole, not only does this result in a new image of human beings, but also completely new therapeutic options open up. Current energy and information medicine can, in the parts in which it works well and seriously, be seen as a partial or intuitive anticipation of the possibilities that a fully developed healing culture could provide.

These have always treated the person as a whole and never just a part or a symptom. This characteristic of traditional healing methods already indicates an essential parallel to the holism of quantum theory.

The term energy and information medicine encompasses a wide, heterogeneous field of diagnostic and therapeutic methods and systems, which I do not intend to address comprehensively or in detail in this article. Rather, my aim here is to derive a definition of a new healing art from a consistent application of quantum theory to the human being as a whole, which can also be decisive for energy and information medicine . This approach seems to me to be very promising because some essential properties of energy and information medicine suggest a quantitative view of reality:

• The human being is seen as a unity of mind, psyche and body
• The human being is also treated physically as a whole
• The information is said to have great effects, even if its energetic content appears negligible

While many of these properties appear like magic from the point of view of classical physics, quantum theory demands precisely these properties for a system dominated by quantum effects.
