PayPal is looking to hire crypto and blockchain experts amid reports that the online payments giant is preparing to launch cryptocurrency services.

The company is hiring a cryptocurrency engineer to work as a technical lead for the company’s crypto engineering team based in Chennai, India. Whoever fills the position will be “responsible for new initiatives for PayPal global with focus on agility, time to market, and innovation.” Says PayPal,

“The role includes the design, development, and maintenance of key crypto products/features targeted towards the availability, performance, and scalability of PayPal services…

We are looking for a person who is passionate about security and thrive in a dynamic and high-pressure environment and is an expert in Cloud Security and Crypto domain.”

PayPal is also hiring a blockchain research engineer who will work in San Jose, California for the newly formed Blockchain Research Group (BRG), which is tasked to look into emerging blockchain technologies and their potential applications.

The successful candidate will be “leading the discovery for use cases that can further PayPal’s understanding of blockchain and specific blockchain implementations.”

The online payments titan is reportedly working to partner with crypto exchange Bitstamp and Coinbase to allow users to buy and sell crypto directly from its platform.
