The number of new corona infections exceeded the 1000 new infections mark for the second day in a row. The number of new infections in Germany has thus reached the highest level since the beginning of May. An overview of data and maps.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the health authorities in Germany reported 1147 new corona infections within one day. Since the onset of the Corona crisis, at least 214,214 people in Germany have been shown to be infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus, as the RKI reported on the Internet on Friday morning (data status 7/8, midnight).
The number of new infections in Germany has thus reached the highest level since the beginning of May. Already on Thursday the new infections with 1045 corona cases were above the threshold of 1000 for the first time. The last time they were exceeded was on May 7th. After that the number tended to decrease, and since the end of July the values have been rising again. The peak of the new infections was reached in early April with more than 6000.
According to RKI data, the number of deaths associated with a corona infection is 9183. According to RKI estimates, 195,900 people had survived the infection by Friday morning.
The number of reproductions, or R value for short, was according to RKI estimates with data as of August 6th, midnight, in Germany 0.99 (previous day: 0.9). This means that on average an infected person infects another person. The R-value depicts the infection process approximately one and a half weeks beforehand.
In addition, the RKI gives a so-called seven-day R. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value was 1.06 (previous day: 0.97) as of August 6, 00:00 a.m. It shows the infection process from 8 to 16 days ago.
