Boeing steckt in einer tiefen Krise:

Boeing is in a deep crisis: the 737 Max is no longer allowed to fly worldwide after two crashes. Boeing is now hoping for a new model: the 777X. The wide-body jet has now completed its first flight.

The US aviation giant Boeing is not coming out of the crisis: The re-registration of the unfortunate pilot 737 Max, which the company has been longing for, is likely to drag on for months. The aircraft manufacturer can use good news - there is one: Boeing's new wide-body jet 777X has successfully completed its maiden flight. Boeing's beacon of hope took off in the US city of Everett near Seattle in the state of Washington and safely landed on the ground again. The first flight took three hours and 51 minutes and was successful, Boeing said.

Not everything went smoothly with the 777X model either
Due to bad weather conditions, the US aircraft manufacturer had to postpone the first flight of the 777X, which was already scheduled for Thursday. Boeing had already had several setbacks in the development of the new long-haul aircraft in the past.

The first aircraft were supposed to be delivered in mid-2020, but Boeing had to postpone the appointment until early 2021 due to problems with the engine and other technical problems. According to current information, 340 orders are on the books of the crisis-ridden industry giant, including from Lufthansa.

According to Boeing, the 777X is the largest twin-engine aircraft in the world. The most striking features include the collapsible wing tips, with which the large wings fit into the same parking spaces as previous models.

Boeing is already in a serious crisis because of another machine: The 737 MAX has been banned from flying worldwide since March after a total of 346 people were killed in two crashes of this type in Indonesia and Ethiopia. Investigators suspect that the disasters are related to a stabilization system that pushes the nose of the aircraft down if an impending stall occurs.

FAA speaks of progress
A spokesman for the U.S. Aviation Authority confirmed that there is still no schedule for the aircraft type to be re-registered. At the same time, he emphasized that there had been progress in the re-registration process since December. The aviation agency was "pleased with the progress Boeing has made over the past few weeks to achieve key milestones," the spokesman said.

Boeing is putting off summer
Boeing expects the 737 Max to remain banned until summer. | more

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing expects the 737 Max to remain banned until summer. The US air traffic control authority FAA will probably not be given permission to take off before June or July, the group had recently announced.

Enormous strain on Boeing
For Boeing, the failure of the 737 Max is an enormous burden, which has caused high special costs and image damage. The aircraft type was one of Boeing's best-selling model until the crashes and was one of the most important sources of profit. Due to the high degree of uncertainty regarding the re-registration, the production of the jet has recently been suspended until further notice. In December, CEO Dennis Muilenburg resigned in the wake of the 737 Max debacle, whose crisis management had caused criticism.
