Shortly before the closure of the Mattersburger Commerzialbank, which was shaken by a balance sheet scandal, the Regional Management Burgenland (RMB), a subsidiary of the State of Burgenland, allegedly cleared large amounts of deposited money. The Greens announced on Sunday evening that there might have been a tip from the bank and announced inquiries to the state government.
According to a "courier" report, it is about 1.2 million euros. The money is said to have been withdrawn on July 14, just after 9:30 p.m. Only two and a half hours later, the financial market regulator had the bank blocked, which meant that no account movements were possible. According to the report, it was the "most noticeable money transfer" of the night.

State Councilor Christian Illedits (SPÖ), who resigned on Saturday, was involved in the RMB. The connection exists due to Illedits' chairmanship at LAG Nordburgenland plus, an association of 69 municipalities and their partners, which according to its own words drives regional development in North Burgenland.

Christian Illedits has now completed all functions after several decades in politics.

"It is common for such sums to be withdrawn at night?"
It was precisely this connection that brought the Burgenland Greens to the scene on Sunday evening. "Did the now resigned economic state council know that one million euros had been withdrawn from the commercial bank?" Asked state spokeswoman Regina Petrik. Another question that arises was whether it was common "that such large sums be withdrawn by the RMB in the middle of the night".
