Rampant homelessness, and rising crime. In San Francisco

Posted by Richard Garcia on June 08, 2021 - 6:57pm Edited 6/8 at 6:58pm

I was a Program Aid at a large Homeless Shelter in San Francisco for 5 years. When I left I thanked the administration for the opportunity to serve the men and women who lived and survived in the streets of San Francisco.

I went to the floor where most of the men were housed and read my resignation letter to them....many were sad to see me leave.

Months before leaving the Shelter Manager asked me to his office to give my opinion of a speech he was giving about the success of the shelter He asked my for feed back so I said it was a good speech BUT all the SYSTEM was doing was WAREHOUSING THE HOMELESS...he didn't say anything ..I thanked him and walked out

It was a blessing to me for 5 years to be there and have some in-pack.

People need to stop electing people from San Francisco. The politicians are lunatics!

This guy is sharp, he should replace Newsom.

So true... these democrats running iCalifornia are truly con artists.. especially King Newsom...

So I’m guessing the 5 thumbs down is Feinstein, Pelosi, Harris, Nelson and Waters)

It was probably in SF where Mark Twain conjured up the phrase if voting mattered they wouldn't let us do it. This crap has been going on for decades. All the rebels have been silenced

I live in the Bay Area with a 45 minute drive east of San Francisco and I worked in San Francisco for nearly 2 years. Part of that time I was overseeing all security for all of the Federal Buildings including 90 7th Street (Nancy Pelosi's office building), the Federal Immigration court on Samson, US Customs and Border Patrol, the Appeals courthouse on 7th street, 50 UN Plaza, and all the other Federal Buildings. I was constantly having to practically swim through drug addicts, transients, piles of human feces and used hypodermic needles, where everywhere you go, you cannot escape the stench of feces and urine, everywhere I went, especially where my office was on Taylor Blvd and Golden Gate in the heart of the Tenderloin district. I even personally witnessed, on several occasions, people literally dropping their pants in front of me while walking and taking dumps directly on the sidewalk in broad daylight, pulling their pants back up and then continuing on their way as if nothing was unusual. San Francisco is the most filthy, disgusting, soul sucking place you could ever be in California. I left that job 4 years ago. I haven't been back since and I will never go back to that filth ridden, disease infested, capital of degradation hell hole that God forsaken and forgot, ever again in my entire life! In fact, even after life because I won't be caught dead there.

Simon Keighley Such a sad story to read about the rampant homelessness and rising crime in San Francisco, Richard - let's hope the tide soon turns and something is sorted. Thanks for sharing.
