Traditional - from Moravia
Previously, the eggs were decorated with natural colors. The most important was always the red color, which protected from demons and represented love. The girl left the red-dyed egg for the boy she liked. Other natural colors then included brown, yellow, green and black. Most often, eggs were dyed using onion, beetroot, cabbage, oak or alder bark or lime blossom.
Waxed and engraved eggs
Basically, this is the traditional Easter technique of decorating, which was practiced by our grandmothers. With the help of a pinhead, beeswax is applied to the egg and beautiful ornaments are created. Then the egg is dipped in water and the dried wax is removed. Another technique is engraving or also scraping. The egg is stained with aniline or alcohol paint, and then various patterns are formed on it.
