This is a very fresh news from Czech Republic - just today it was announced that the traditional production of glass-pearles decorations made in small Czech town Poniklá was added to the list of
cultural heritage of UNESCO.
From the website of this town:
A very special recognition was given to many generations of pearlmakers in Poniklá and their faithful contemporary successors at today's meeting of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO). The production of Christmas decorations was included in the prestigious list of intangible cultural heritage of mankind. (As only the seventh entry from the Czech Republic). Congratulations to the family Kulhavý, all employees of the Rautis, as well as all those who want to enjoy Christmas all year round.
This little town Poniklá is situated in northern Bohemia, in a district where glass production generally has a very long tradition. Not only the Christmas decorations were traditionally made in this part of Czech Republic but also cut glass, glass jewellery etc.

The part of Czechia with long glass production tradition is a hilly area where people had originally not many possibilities
how to earn money. Small glass products were very often made at home - some households had still about 50 years ago
equipment to melt glass in their small houses. And the completing of products could be continued at home much longer, even
today.
If you would like to see more of these products have a look at the site of the family entreprise which continues in this traditional decorations production
