Jože (or Josip) Plečnik
From Wikipedia:
(23 January 1872 – 7 January 1957) was a Slovene architect who had a major impact on the modern architecture of Vienna, Prague and of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, most notably by designing the iconic Triple Bridge and the Slovene National and University Library building, as well as the embankments along the Ljubljanica River, the Ljubljana Central Market buildings, the Ljubljana cemetery, parks, plazas etc. His architectural imprint on Ljubljana has been compared to the impact Antoni Gaudí had on Barcelona.
His style is associated with the Vienna Secession style of architecture (a type of Art Nouveau). Besides in Ljubljana, he worked in Vienna, Belgrade and on Prague Castle. He influenced the avant-garde Czech Cubism.

The architect Jože Plečnik has left unmissable buildings in Vienna, the Slovenian capital Ljubljana and other cities of the former Yugoslavia. In the Czech environment, the famous creator is best known for his work as a castle architect during the presidency of President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.
At the request of the first president of Czechoslovakia, Jože Plečnik transformed the Prague Castle and the presidential castle in Lány.
When Czechoslovakia was founded after the end of First World War Prague castle needed reconstruction of courtyards, gardens etc. Few foreign architects have made such a monumental and fateful impression on the face of our cities and Prague Castle as Josip Plečnik. Both President Masaryk and his daughter Alice gave him full confidence and admiration.
Imaginative arches, monumental columns, spiral staircases, animal heads and small birds on the handles of ancient doors, an ingenious combination of stones, granite and bricks – all this one just silently marvels at.
Beside Praha Plečnik also changed the faces of the cities of the disintegrated Austria-Hungary. To Vienna he donated the noble villas and fountains, native Ljubljana university library, Tivoli park or Trojmostí (three bridges) ...
As a castle architect in Praha, he devoted himself mainly to the construction of the presidential apartment. An interesting fact is that he never took a fee for his orders from the castle office. He claimed that the very work in the castle was an honor for him.

While designing this church, Plečnik was certainly influenced by his passion for ancient times and Mediterranean architecture. The distinctive building, whose facade consists of bright blocks of artificial granite between glazed bricks, has a 42-meter high tower, topped with a copper mine and it is one of the most significant building in capital of Czechia.
