How Not To Overheat
According to long-term forecasts, a very hot summer awaits us in the northern hemisphere. After all, the temperatures since the beginning of June seem to confirm this, and usually the warmest months of July and August are just ahead.
Here are some basic tips on how to survive the summer in health
🔹 Lukewarm drinks
Sometimes the most important thing in high heat is to drink a lot. Lukewarm water and teas are better here, because ice–cold water has to be brought back to body temperature by the body - which results in increased sweating.
🔹 Cold hot water bottle
A "hot water bottle" with ice-cold water between the thighs can do real miracles overnight.
🔹 Kneipp Applications for refreshment
Several times a day the "holding forearms under cold water" refreshes and trains the blood vessels.
🔹 Light food with a high water content
Light food reduces heat production. On the other hand, protein, alcohol and caffeine increases it.
🔹 Wide clothing
With wide clothing, air can circulate between the clothes and the skin. Linen is especially recommended.
🔹 Cool sage tea
Cool sage tea reduces heavy sweating.
🔹 Keep the apartment cool
Keep curtains, windows and shutters closed during the day.
Older people in particular feel less thirsty and need to drink enough even when they feel they do not need to.
Daily we should supply the body with about 35 ml of water per kg of our weight. That is about 2,5 liters for a man weighting 70 kgs. But during hot days it must be more if we want to keep healthy and without risk of collapse.
Wishing you good health
