Pete Townshend may have risen to fame while serving as the main songwriter, as well as a guitarist and singer, for the British rock band The Who, but he had an epic solo career in his own rite. With his debut album, “Who Came First”, the multi-talented musician made heavy references to his spiritual guru, Meher Baba.
While the album never got great reviews, critics said that Townshend at the very least sounded “happy”. The album, which features Townshend standing on crates of eggs in a reference to the age-old “chicken-or-the-egg” question, is now worth several times what it was originally sold for, despite its low marks from critics.
