29. John Lennon & Yoko Ono: Double Fantasy

Posted by Bill Rippel on November 26, 2020 - 1:40am

Year: 1980
Record label: Geffen Records
Worth Today: $150,000*

Sadly, Double Fantasy was the last album that John Lennon would ever release. The album, his seventh and final, released in mid-November of 1980 on the record label Geffen Records. Less than one month after Double Fantasy’s release, John Lennon would be assassinated walking out of a building in New York.

Lennon teamed up with his partner, singer Yoko Ono, on Double Fantasy. Lennon and Ono were also the producers, along with music exec Jack Douglas. Double Fantasy was recorded at a New York City studio called The Hit Factory. It took several months to make (from August to October of that year).

Simon Keighley I remember Double Fantasy being released, Bill. After a return to music after 5 years, this was the last album made by John Lennon - what an amazing career. Thanks for sharing.
