Ummagumma is Pink Floyd’s fourth studio album. The double album was released on November 7, 1969. The record label was Harvest Records, and the album was recorded at a London, England studio called Abbey Road (which had previously hosted The Beatles, who would go on to name an album after it).
Ummagumma’s unusual title was derived from slang. In Cambridge, England, it was slang for sex. Pink Floyd’s friend, roadie Emo Moore, would make jokes about the unusual-sounding term. Moore claims he made the term up himself, but who knows. Original vinyl Ummagumma records have sold for over $13K at auction.
