Recorded on October 17, 1976 and released a year later, Anarchy in the UK was a Sex Pistols’ album that has gone on to be one of the band’s rarest albums ever. Anarchy was recorded on Sex Pistols Records, which was the band’s eponymous label. The vinyl was a twelve-inch 45RPM single G-code record.
Released in July of 1977 in France, the punk-rock record included “Anarchy in the UK,” the Sex Pistols’ controversial single, on the A-side and “I Wanna Be Me” on the B-side. Jones, Cook, Rotten, and Matlock are all credited as songwriters on this groundbreaking, table-shaking record.
