HIVE Digital posts strong 2025 results as Bitcoin production jumps

HIVE Digital posts strong 2025 results as Bitcoin production jumps

HIVE Digital Technologies (Nasdaq: HIVE) closed out 2025 with strong operational momentum, reporting sharp year-over-year growth in Bitcoin (BTC) production despite higher mining difficulty and seasonal weather disruptions across the Northern Hemisphere.

The company said in a statement on Jan. 6 that it continued to operate at more than 2% of the global Bitcoin network, highlighting the scale and resilience of its geographically diversified mining fleet.

December Bitcoin output shows sharp growth

In December 2025, HIVE produced 306 BTC, marking a 197% increase year over year compared with 103 BTC mined in December 2024.

The growth came even as Bitcoin mining difficulty rose 40% over the same period.

HIVE averaged 9.9 BTC per day last month, supported by an average hashrate of 23.3 exahash per second (EH/s), which peaked at 24 EH/s.

Fleet efficiency stood at 17.5 joules per terahash, while production reached 13.2 BTC per EH/s.

While extreme cold weather temporarily affected peak hashrate availability in some regions, the company said its operations across three continents, nine time zones and five languages helped maintain high uptime and consistent output.

Full-year 2025 performance beats the halving

For the full calendar year 2025, HIVE produced 2,311 BTC, a 31% increase from 1,770 BTC mined in 2024. The results came despite the Bitcoin halving and a 46% increase in average annual network difficulty.

Executive Chairman Frank Holmes described Bitcoin as “bundled, portable energy,” saying HIVE’s green data centers convert surplus hydroelectric power into a globally liquid digital asset.

President and CEO Aydin Kilic added that December’s performance underscored the benefits of operating across multiple geographies, helping protect margins and optimize uptime.

Expansion plans focus on green energy

Looking ahead, HIVE plans to develop an additional 100 megawatts of hydroelectric-powered data center capacity at its Yguazú campus in Paraguay, with full commissioning targeted for Q3 2026.

Once completed, HIVE’s renewable energy footprint is expected to reach about 540 MW, spanning Paraguay, Canada and Sweden, as the company positions itself for continued growth through 2026 and beyond.

Simon Keighley HIVE Digital’s strategic expansion into Paraguay and its transition to 23.3 exahash per second highlight a successful year of scaling renewable mining operations despite significant increases in global network difficulty. Thanks for the update.
