Homepage Plants And Animals That We Shouldn't Ever Touch

Posted by Bill Rippel on January 18, 2022 - 1:13am

59. Wild Elderberries

We’ve got a message to share to all the elderberry fans out there – please don’t handle any that you find outside. If they’re still on an elder tree, the unripe fruit will be laced in a compound called glycoside. Even the smallest amount of contact can leave a sore mark on your skin. And eating them is definitely out of the question!

Simon Keighley Thanks for the warning about unripe elderberries, Bill - I wasn't aware they were laced with glycoside.
