Like his fellow former One Direction bandmates, Zayn Malik is never far from his security personnel. When Malik was with One Direction, his personal security guard was Preston Mahon. After the singer quit the band, he and Mahon parted ways, tweeting about how he was out of a job.

Malik ended up hiring his own private security, just to be safe. Though the singer is paying for it out of his pocket (and not the band’s), he can afford it. Malik reportedly quit One Direction because he wanted to have “private time” away from the spotlight. He said his fellow band members were still his “friends for life.”
