XRP, the fourth-largest cryptocurrency, could be facing fresh downside risks as market sentiment across the crypto sector turns sharply bearish. According to trader and analyst Sjuul Follings, the asset’s latest price rejection might signal deeper trouble ahead.
The warning comes as XRP struggles to hold key technical levels amid a broader market downturn that has wiped billions from the total crypto market capitalization. Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) also saw steep corrections this week, with risk assets across the board losing ground.
The latest sell-off followed the Federal Reserve’s 25-basis-point rate cut, which failed to boost risk appetite as Chair Jerome Powell hinted at a pause in further easing for 2025. Adding pressure, the U.S. government shutdown, set to surpass 35 days, has deepened market pessimism and weighed on overall sentiment.

Follings, known as AltCryptoGems on X, said that XRP’s structure on the higher timeframes shows signs of exhaustion following its failure to sustain above $2.70.
“$XRP looks a bit in trouble, kind of confirming a further lower high here on this rejection at $2.7,” Follings wrote in a Nov. 3 post.
“Should this lower high be confirmed, we could be in danger of visiting that lower support level. Right now, bulls have only one task: reclaim that $2.7; otherwise, we might be in real trouble!”
Within 24 hours of his post, XRP had dropped further by 7.2%. At the time of writing, it was trading at $2.16.
Adding historical perspective, crypto analyst Jason Pizzino noted that XRP’s market cycles have tended to follow a 12–13 month rhythm, often extending into multiples of that period.
“Every major trend in XRP history has resulted in a 12–13 month move, or a multiple of this time frame, like 2018–2020, which saw a 26-month bear market,” Pizzino wrote on Nov. 4. “History is rhyming again.”
When asked about whether XRP is heading towards a bear market, he replied, "History would say XRP has a high chance that it will (or is in one now)."
XRP previously dropped to $1.79 in April 2025.
Meanwhile, XRP's bear momentum is clashing with the Ripple Swell 2025 event being held in New York. The two-day premier global gathering is bringing leaders from the fintech and blockchain sectors to explore innovations in digital payments, tokenization, and cross-border liquidity.
